Reasons to communicate
As I was thinking about the topic for this month’s article a number of thoughts seemed to be competing for my attention. This is the time of year to enjoy the holidays, to reflect on those things we have to be thankful for, a time to celebrate and especially a time to communicate. Rather than these ideas being in competition, they are actually part of the fabric of this time of year and more importantly part of the fabric of our businesses, our lives and the lives of those around us.
No matter what holidays we celebrate, I think we can all agree that part of the celebration involves family, friends and often a sense of comfortable enjoyment of those around us. No matter what our contribution to the improvement of people’s homes and lives, or the world around us, we really are much more a part of each other’s enjoyment of the holidays than we realize.
At this time of year it is only fitting that we do reach out to all those we can. Yes, there are reasons to celebrate, reasons to give thanks and lots of reasons to communicate. Although it seems natural to reach out to our family and friends, we sometimes forget about the others we could and should communicate with.
From a business point of view it is smart to communicate to all those we have dealt with throughout the years. By staying connected or getting re-connected we can only strengthen our businesses. We never know when that simple communication is a reminder to someone who may need our services again or may know someone who does.
